Bedford Summer Day Camp goes GREEN in 2009. Live Green Camp is a week-long day camp loaded with exciting outdoor adventure and lots of hands-on learning for ages 6-12 years. The green camps promote physical fitness, personal responsibility and teamwork. The camp also emphasizes care for the equipment we use, and the land on which we live. Each camp program will focus on topics to help kids live green. Other camp activities include swimming, games, explorations and much more.

June 8 – 12 – Trash to Treasure / Pirate Week
Campers will explore the world of recycling, from the typical cans and bottles to more complicated recycling systems. Pirates of the seven seas will also be a part of this treasure filled exciting week.

June 15 – 19 – Litter Bugs / Halloween Week
There’s nothing scarier than trash in our world. This week campers will find out effects of everything they throw away. There will be clean up and costume alike, so plan to wear your best costume.

June 22 - 26 – You Are What You Eat / Olympiad Week
Be active all of your life. Campers will have to eat right and stay active if they want to stay ahead of the competition for the 09’ Summer Camp Olympics. Contests galore and a final medal ceremony will take place this week.

June 29 – July 3 – GO! Green / Color Week
What’s your favorite color? Ours is green. Wear different colors each day while we learn about the different ways to travel green. Dress in the color of the day, do art and crafts projects and play games inspired by red, yellow, blue, purple and most importantly, GREEN

July 6 - July 10 – Green Thumb / Wet and Wild Week
How do you make a plant grow? Water and care. Campers will learn how to garden while doing some pretty fun water activities. Get ready to get wet and grow your own plants from seed to flower.

July 13 - 17 – Let There Be Light / Hollywood Week
Lights, camera, action! We’ll do group skits and make commercials all about how the sun helps us. Who knows what kind of shining star you’ll become so start working on your autographs now!

July 20 - 24 – Crazy Composting / Science Week
Composting at home or at school offers a rich learning opportunity for kids. This week campers will learn about nature's cycle of growth, decay and renewal, along with other crazy science topics.

July 27 - 31– Wind Power / Weather Week
Campers will be introduced to wind power, and how it can be used to generate electricity. We will also cover some of natures other phenomenon such as hurricanes, storm surge, tornadoes, and much more.

Aug 3 – Aug 7 – Out of this World Organics / Space Week
Kids will be introduced to the world of organics and the concept of an organic lifestyle. We will also cover planets, stars, and other out of this world topics.

Aug 10 – Aug 14 – Super Energy Savers / Super Hero Week
Energy Hogs are nasty little critters that hide all over the house and pig out on wasted energy. As Super Energy Savers, kids will be transformed into Superheroes to help outsmart the Energy Hogs and save our planet.

Aug 17– Aug 21– Nature at Its Best / camp vs. Camp Week
As the summer comes to an end, we will spend the week reflecting on a great summer and all the things we’ve learned. This week each camp will be in competition and learning about outdoor ethics and sportsmanship. Numbers will be exchanged and one camp will win it all.
